MLAB. Copenhagen, 2014

MLAB is a material library at the Aarhus School of Architecture that was launched in collaboration with GXN and DAC (Danish Architecture Centre). The library serves as a space for students to explore and find immediate inspiration thanks to a vast collection of materials, production processes and case studies.

It was important to devise a simple and intuitive wayfinding scheme that would guide visitors through the library, as well allow the university to easily archive new materials. This was achieve by developing a colour-coded system, in order to subdivide the materials into 9 individual categories. Three separate displays were created for this purpose: Shelf Cards, Shelf Dividers and Table Cards. The individual material samples could be archived by using stickers or chain tags.
